Victoria composer Kristy Farkas’ project 'Songs for Tree' is an ode to our planet's endangered old-growth forests, specifically the last standing old-growth trees on Vancouver Island.

Beginning in the woods near Beaver Point Hall, Kristy and her collaborators (violinist Meredith Bates and bassist Sam Howard) invite you on an ‘animated soundwalk’ to tune in to the sounds, rhythms and textures of the forest and surrounding environment while they play several works from her collection (Please wear appropriate footwear for walking on a forest path).

Afterwards we will gather indoors for a rich conversation with Kristy about her 'Songs for Tree', the relationship between nature, music, and why tuning in and connecting with the natural world is so important for our wellbeing.

For more information, see the Kristy's website
