The 4:33 Club meets at Beaver Point Hall, on the south end of Salt Spring Island, at 4:33pm. We share a passion for sound and an interest in listening to music, talk, recordings, our natural environment, and silence. The club provides a place to contemplate and celebrate with our ears, rather than our eyes, in a world often dominated by the visual. The gatherings are not concerts, lectures, nor workshops, but may include aspects of these formats. Inspired by John Cage's (in)famous so-called silent composition from 1952, the 4:33 Club provides an empty framework for mindful listening and thoughtful discussion - or, yoga for the mind and ears.
