Join Of Sound Minds for a free outdoor performance of Terry Riley's In C, one of the most influential and beloved works of contemporary music.
Written in 1964, In C is unlike any traditional concert piece. Built from 53 short musical phrases, the work invites each performer to move through the music independently — guided by a steady pulse — while listening closely to those around them. The result is a constantly shifting soundscape that is never performed the same way twice.
This special performance brings together 25+ musicians from Salt Spring Island and Victoria, representing a remarkable range of musical traditions including classical, jazz, folk, baroque, improvisation, and beyond. United by curiosity, collaboration, and attentive listening, they will create a musical experience that is as much about community as it is about the music.
In C offers an accessible and immersive introduction to one of the landmark works of minimalist music.
