Join composer Peter Hatch in celebration of the sesquintennial birthday of author Gertrude Stein. This 'performed lecture' was originally written and delivered at the 34th Ferienkurse fur Neue Musik at Darmstadt , Germany in the summer of 1988. Written in ‘Steineseque’ fashion, Hatch talks about and demonstrates the influence of Stein’s writing on his musical work, especially her concept of the ‘continuous present.’ Excerpts from Hatch’s compositional works will accompany the talk, including work to be featured at the upcoming (December 5th) Artspring ‘Stein Time’ concert.
