Gertrude Stein 5.png

Time for Gertrude Stein celebrates the revolutionary spirit of one of the 20th century's most daring minds. Presented by Of Sound Minds, this event brings together an eclectic mix of music and theatre, showcasing some of SSI’s most talented performers in honour of Stein’s 150th birthday. The programme fuses cutting-edge works by 20th and 21st-century composers (including two of SSI’s own) with some unexpected combinations – tabletop percussion, flute and electronics, and Erik Satie's music for piano –  mashed up with Stein's poems. The evening will evoke the vibrant energy of Stein’s renowned salons, where, as an early “social influencer,” she brought together cultural luminaries like cubists Picasso and Braque, and authors Hemingway and Sinclair Lewis.
